If you find yourself lucky enough to visit 5208 Seascape Lane, I would suggest pulling into the front drive and taking a moment to admire the shade of the trees as it causes the sunlight to shimmer on the spacious lawn. You might consider lingering here, but while the outside of this home makes you feel instantly welcome, it’s really the interiors that are the most inviting.
There is nothing quaint about this gorgeous home on over half an acre in Willow Bend Lakes. Being a well-thought-out, single-story home with stunning lake views is just the beginning of the story. Seldom do we say that a home has it all, but this rare combination of spaces and upgrades makes this one a must-see. The fact that it’s in one of Plano’s most beautiful neighborhoods is just an added bonus.
Upon entering the foyer, your eye is immediately drawn to the wall of windows at the back of the house and you catch a glimpse of the outdoor oasis, one that teases the lake view everyone has been talking about. From the foyer, you can visit the study on the right, the formal dining area on the left, or just pass through to enter the great room (yes, a technically correct term but one that lives up to a label’s reputation). The rich wood floors that greet you are remarkable and they flow through to all the main living spaces.
This open concept area adds some brightness with the back wall of windows and a few skylights scattered throughout and another bit of warmth with some exposed wood beams. Looking left to right, you have an eat-in kitchen that features a large island, a custom backsplash, and tons of storage. The cabinetry here is a wonderful accent to the other light and bright tones. The kitchen is also the best place to access the walk-in pantry, utility room, half bath, and three-car garage. The breakfast nook provides yet another gorgeous view of the lake. As you scan to the right, the other side of the great room features a large seating area. This living space has a floor-to-ceiling, gas-log fireplace that is bookended by built-ins.
While we’re on the right side of the house, we can tour the two bedrooms in the front, each with a walk-in closet, that share a remodeled bath. In the back of the house, a third bedroom shares a full bath with a more private space, a secluded family room. Perfect for games, gaming, watching TV and movies, or even having a playroom for the littles, this flexible family gathering area has lots of potential… plus tons of windows overlooking the pool and one more point of access to the backyard. Between the family room and the great room is a wet bar, complete with refrigerator and wine storage, just waiting to help you entertain guests.
Beyond the kitchen, we find the primary bedroom. If the backyard is an oasis, then this is truly an owner’s retreat, including two walls of windows, a seating area, and access to the back patio and pool. The primary ensuite bath has separate closets, dual vanities, a garden tub, and a stand-alone shower.
Now, for the pièce de résistance. Step onto the patio that connects all three outside doors (master, great room, and family room). With multiple seating areas and outdoor entertainment, this is the place we can envision spending much of our time. With the backyard being built on a few levels, there is an infinity quality to the pool and hot tub that lets you enjoy an unobstructed view of the lake. A combination of these backyard features and the waterfront views create an experience unlike anything else in the area!
Although this home was built in 1981, almost every space has been remodeled for both elegance and efficiency. From creating the great room, replacing all flooring, and updating the windows, doors, and driveway in 2011 to replacing the pool, building the patio, and designing the landscaping in 2015, great care and attention have been given to every detail. Most recently, in October of this year, the roof was replaced (30-year shingles), new gutters were installed, and all attic insulation was topped off to an R13 rating.
Having the lake as a backdrop for your everyday life might enhance your appreciation of the great outdoors. Yes, even in a neighborhood nestled in suburbia, there are fun and easy ways to get back to nature. First, it’s important to note that several other ponds, fountains, burbling creeks, waterfalls, and green areas can be found in Willow Bend Lakes. They provide a lush environment where it is easy to relax.
If being a bit more active would be relaxing for you, remember that Gleneagles Country Club is just a quick golf cart ride away. Gleneagles offers two pristine 18-hole championship courses, presenting distinct challenges and bringing delight to players at every skill level. A recent multi-million dollar renovation made the courses more accessible year-round! Also, their driving range gives golfers a chance to practice off the course. Back at the club, sip and savor in the restaurants, take a dip in the pool, and work out in the fitness center. It really is a membership that enhances your entire lifestyle!
The City of Plano has also done an incredible job of helping residents find more fresh air. Just 3 miles away is Arbor Hills, a 200-acre park featuring vast areas of natural beauty perfect for walking, jogging, and hiking. The observation tower gives a spectacular view of the city. Across town, but worth every bit of the drive, is Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, more than 800 acres of serenity. The park boasts nearly eight miles of concrete trails and five miles of soft surface trails located along Rowlett Creek.
Just across the tollway, less than a mile from home, are some of the best shops and dining Plano has to offer in the ever-evolving Shops of Willow Bend. Personal favorites are Neiman Marcus, Crate & Barrel, and Restoration Hardware but there are several unique boutiques within the mall itself. On the east side of the building, a new development called The District at The Shops at Willow Bend has brought some incredible new flavors to our area. Some long-time local favorites (like Whistlebritches and Knife) have found a home with some new and tasty concepts (like Terra and Mexican Bar Co.). I also have to add quickly that the Shops of Willow Bend has one of the last DFW locations for California Pizza Kitchen, IYKYK.
Although not in the same shopping district, there are several specialty restaurants and stores we feel we must mention. While you find all the awesomeness we mentioned above if you head west from Willow Bend Lakes, you must take a turn to the east to find these top spots (they are all actually at the same intersection):
-
Anaya's Seafood Scratch Kitchen: Serving the freshest ocean favorites, they always have the best chalkboard specials
-
Goat & Vine Restaurant + Winery: Hand-selected wines and a menu to satisfy every sense of taste
-
Steve Fields' Steakhouse: the epitome of what a great dining experience should be
-
Katy Trail Ice House: something causal, something fun, and a patio to die for
We must also mention this same area of Park and Preston also offers a Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Market Street. So if you prefer honing your own chef skills, it’s easy to find some incredible ingredients right here. There’s nothing like spending some quality time around a table with friends and family! For holidays and for every day, this area has just about everything you need to settle in.
But maybe it’s also about the settling down. Just imagine building your future here. No matter where you are in life, this home has something it can give you. For families with kids, Plano ISD has an A+ rating and is consistently ranked in the Top 20 best school districts in Texas. For this home, kids would start at Centennial Elementary and then feed into Renner MS, Shepton HS, and Plano West Senior High. The area also lends itself to many other stages of life because Willow Bend is conveniently located by several of our top private schools, plus preschools and colleges as well.
If you’re in career mode, North Dallas couldn’t be a better place to be. “Since 2010, the DFW area has become a magnet for company headquarters, with 140 headquarters relocations to the region from across the U.S. and abroad, including more than 45 companies moving from California. A few notable recent moves to the North Texas market include Toyota’s North American HQ, Charles Schwab, and PGA of America.” (D Magazine) As industry and technology grow, the job market and local opportunities will abound.
