Christmas is a season of magic and beauty, when time spent with friends and family just feels a lot more special and a bit more precious. Recently, our Dallas Golf Homes team shared their favorite things about Christmas. Not surprising, their lists focused on family and friends (new and old) plus lots of warm memories and joyful celebrations.

What does your family do for Christmas?  Champagne and caviar on Christmas Eve. This was my dad's family tradition growing up and we have been doing this for as long as I can remember.

What's your favorite holiday meal?  Anything my mom makes! She's a great cook; her special ingredient in every dish is LOVE and it makes all the difference in the world!

What's the best gift you've ever received or given?  I received a beautiful family ring that was hidden in a HUGE box. I had been told it could be mine "once I was responsible enough." I'm not sure which part I was more excited about, the ring itself or the fact that I had finally become responsible in my family's eyes. (Just a hint: I was a sassy handful when I was younger.)

What's your favorite holiday tradition?  Going to church on Christmas Eve with my family and then rushing home to have friends and family over for fun, food, and cheer!

What's your favorite holiday food?  Tough choice! But definitely a raspberry pretzel jello salad or the cinnamon pastry from Stein's Bakery.

What's the best gift you've ever received or given?  The best gifts I have ever received are my three beautiful grandsons! But the best gift I have ever given was a Golden Retriever puppy that came jumping out of a box on Christmas morning. Hearing the delightful screams from my kids was priceless!

Do you have any holiday traditions in your family?  Growing up, my favorite tradition was when we would have Enchiladas on Christmas Eve with the whole family. (I've heard other people do this, so it must be a West Texas thing.) My Grandmother always made them. Now, our favorite tradition is on Christmas Eve, everyone gets new Christmas pajamas and we watch Christmas movies together. Good snuggle time!

What's your favorite holiday food?  Ham and noodles! My Grandmother always made homemade noodles and now we keep up the tradition.

What's the best gift you've ever received or given?  Outside of Christmas gifts, the best gifts I ever received were my children! But as far as Christmas gifts, it was a dual thing. My husband loves nice watches, so I bought him a Bulgari watch. We went to have it re-sized, and while we were there, he surprised me and bought me one too!

It started with my Grandfather who was a Dentist in San Francisco - he bought a train set for my Dad when he was a boy. This train set is known in our family as the "Flynn Christmas Train." Every year since the mid-forties, this train gets set up for Christmas. It's not Christmas until the train blows its horn and runs on its track! Currently, the train is at my younger brother's house, and he keeps adding more tracks and scenes. It's a fun tradition that will continue on - the train is still in great condition and hopefully will run for decades more!

Tamara Payne

What's your favorite holiday tradition?  Hosting a holiday dinner for my family when we have all of our loved ones in one place.

What's your favorite holiday food?  Cornbread dressing

What's the best gift you've ever given or been given?  Cliche but very true, my kids.

Angela Yotides

What was your favorite holiday tradition growing up?  On Christmas Eve, my grandmother would spend the night with us (my parents and my 6 siblings). My Mom would make a nice dinner, the kids got to open one gift, then we would go to Midnight Mass as a family.

What's your favorite holiday food?  My Grandmother's Cherry Yum Yum

What's the best gift you've ever received or given?  One of my favorite gifts to receive was from my 2 kids - 12 days of Christmas where they did nice things for me.
