Meet Jackie Dorbritz, the owner of Dallas Golf Homes and a resident of Willow Bend since 1996. She says, “Yes, I’m a real estate agent that loves this community so much that I have not moved in the last 26 years. I know it’s unusual!” We even joke about her getting sneak peeks to the best unlisted properties all over the Metroplex, but Jackie says she knows she’s got something special here -- and we agree. It’s the beauty of the community, the shade of the trees, the stunning custom homes, and ultimately the neighbors she’s built lifelong friendships with that would be irreplaceable. She also loves that she can walk to Gleneagles or in Arbor Hills when the weather is nice, and access everything from shopping and fine dining to the airport relatively easily. Couple those little lifestyle blessings with the proximity to her home church and you have the main reasons why Willow Bend is still such a great fit for her and for so many others.
Although she grew up in Florida and attended the University of South Florida, Jackie moved to Texas after graduating with her Marketing and Communications degree. In Houston, she met and married a native Texan and so leaving the state or living elsewhere wasn’t really in the cards. She quickly realized she didn’t really like Houston though so Dallas, and specifically Plano, was her ultimate landing spot. Now most of her extended family also lives in Texas, with one of her brothers living in Minnesota and a sister in Tulsa. Jackie’s parents live in Frisco and she spends as much time with them as she can. Jackie says, “I am so grateful for their health and close proximity!” She loves spending time with her niece Meghan and son-in-law Andrew who are very important to Jackie and her family.
Rounding out her local family is Zaza, a gorgeous 9-year-old pup that may be sweet and loveable, but she’s also ALL personality! “Zaza typically thinks she’s the smartest one in the room, and there are many times she is right.” Jackie says the alarm company and police have called or visited several times since Zaza learned how to open the outside doors and take herself for a walk. I’m thinking this just might be Zaza’s world that we’re all getting to live in. I guess she’s living her best life in Willow Bend too!
We asked Jackie is she had any special traditions each year, and in true neighborly fashion, she starts the list with a popular favorite. “July 4th is just beautiful. From my front yard, I get to enjoy the most beautiful display of fireworks from Gleneagles (their show is based at the first tee). Also, each Christmas Eve, my family gathers in my home for caviar and champagne, a definite celebration. My mother would let Zaza join us at the table as one of the family members if I would let her, but of course, Zaza doesn’t get to partake in those festivities. Not to worry though, she is given plenty of other holiday dog treats!”
After college, Jackie started her career in the designer cosmetics and fragrance industry. She used her passion and experience in sales and management for such companies as Ralph Lauren, CHANEL, YSL, and Oscar de la Renta. Promoting those brands throughout the U.S. let her see the country in very fun ways. Her clients included Neiman Marcus, May Co, Dillard's, Bloomingdales, Saks, and many other boutiques from the east to the west coasts. When she decided that she was ready to begin something new, she took a break from the industry she had known so well and turned her attention to the real estate world. She received her real estate license in 2005 and has never looked back! When you listen to what her clients have to say about their buying and selling experience, it’s easy to understand why Jackie says that she has enjoyed her second career even more than her first.
Today, Jackie is a Real Estate Agent with COMPASS; she helps buyers and sellers with the process of buying and selling homes. But the market we’re in right now requires much more than that simple definition lets on. You need an experienced agent to guide you through the process, whether it be to consider the best school districts and the location of up-and-coming markets, or to discern market trends, pricing, staging, and ultimately marketing a home for maximum value. Her job is diverse but detailed. She says, “Early on in my career, I realized the fact Real Estate is a relationship business. You want to be transparent, fair, and a good communicator. Relationships are everything and I am grateful for those relationships and never take them for granted!” She has really invested in herself (and her team at The Jackie Dorbritz Group) just to ensure they can always provide the best service to their clients. She has a strong broker, innovative websites, phenomenal reviews, and a great reputation among other Realtors in her network. These are vital keys to success in today’s market.
Since the industry is changing so quickly these days, Jackie mentions that she is proud to be a part of COMPASS, and she appreciates how they are hands-on with their agents and supportive in marketing and strategy. That partnership lets her serve her clients best! Another thing that sets her apart is niche marketing. She says, “Our website DallasGolfHomes.com sets us apart from many other real estate teams. With a legacy site, we attract clients from all around the world wanting to move to the DFW area. With those relocation clients, we find that they are often both surprised and impressed by just how friendly Texas is.” In fact, Jackie was recently interviewed by D Magazine and shares her market and relocation insight in their piece, The Housing Boom that Won’t Go Bust.
